Boat Bilge Pump Won't Shut Off
Bilge pump 34 sea ray sundancer 1985. my aft bilge pump won't... my aft bilge pump won't shut off. will it burn up if i'm unable to get a mech soon. and will the boat have to be yarded to be replaced. i have a 2002 sei 180 larson boat that the bilge pump is killing the battery.the drain is out the stern and i think water from the lake is. Last weekend i took my boat (2014 195) out to the river with no issues. only have seven hours on the boat. i work out of town, so a week later i get back and my wife says there is a humming noise in the garage. my bilge pump had been running for several days and it would not shut off. i had to disconnect the battery.. Hi guys, newbie here. proud owner of 2740 as of yesterday! had a wonderful day of boating, hit the bilge pumps at the end of the day, starboard pump would not shut off..

The boat is in great condition but i've discovered that the bilge pump will come on automatically and won't switch off. the little flapper (float switch) on the blue bilge pump at the front of the engine keeps getting stuck in the up position.. If the switch activates the pump and then fails to turn it off, continued operation of the pump motor can drain the boat's battery, eliminating the protection assumed to be provided by the automatic bilge pump system. bilge pump switch problems often occur when the liquid in the bilge is not just water..
